As a public school teacher, Headstand founder Katherine Priore started practicing yoga as a way to relieve her own work-related stress. Priore has grown an innovative nonprofit running a multi-school program that reaches more than 1200 students in three cities. Headstand offers K–12 school programming, teacher training, and consulting on how to integrate social and emotional wellness strategies through mindfulness and yoga in school. Priore continues to oversee all aspects of operations, development, and strategic partnerships, including the direction of Headstand programming within the KIPP national network of charter schools.
Together Katherine and Headstand have inspired students, parents, and educators with a profound appreciation for the power of holistic programming inside schools.
